It's been so long that we have moved to the Caribbean (been here a year) and let out our now finished Charente house! Now my issues are dealing with running of our tenanted house, in particular, dodgy (English) tenants who promise to pay the rent but then fall further and further behind. My advice: Don't be a skinflint and use a letting agent. Nice as it is here, I do miss my "French project", esp. now it is finished after 6 years effort! Hope to see you one day. All the very best.
