A year is a long time on the Internet

August 29, 2009 by tony · 10 Comments

I am curious to see how many people are left in my subscriber list to my newsletter after more than a year since I last wrote to them.

I have been writing a newsletter and blog about life in France since before the word “blog” was though of – work and problems over the last year have made it difficult for me to concentrate on writing, but all that is history now and I hope there are a few readers left.

Soon find out – -

Welcome back ! And, so good to hear from you again. The photos are wonderful of your family ‘paradise’…that represents, I can easily imagine, much long and hard, but loving work.

You might not know, but the efforts of you and your family have been inspirational to me and to my family, and I thank you for writing to ‘us’ on the internet… teaching us through your experiences.

We are looking forward to hearing from you soon again…and, we always wish you and your family, all the best in your endeavors. Throughout your life, you always write with a joyful attitude…helping all who listen to you.

    Au revoir!

    Mrs. Jan

Hi, nice to hear from you again. Being a bi-cultural born in Hampstead and having moved to (first) Paris then (via) Senlis and (soon permanently) Bormes les Mimosas, I used to be amused by your trials and tribulations back in the old days. What makes this guy tick? I guess just BEING THERE is the important thing. Anyway, we’re not that far away and, after December, I shall be retired. With a new Peugeot 3008 to test. So you may very well find us on your doorstep with a few bottles to test, too. Et avec quelques idées originales à échanger.

  3. So pleased to hear from you again. Your emails were so enjoyable. We did get to Bezier a couple of years ago, and hope to return to the area soon. Will definitely be looking at staying with you. Keep up the good work!

It is wonderful to hear from you again. There is no better place to mend a bruised spirit then the South of France, and it certainly sounds as if it’s magic has worked. Good luck to you and your lovely family.

What a coincidence – just yesterday I was wondering how long it must be since your last newsletter arrived. And here is the email this morning. It was a welcome arrival. Best of luck.

    Hi Tony,
I am so glad to have you back as I really missed reading your posts. We spent a month in France (Aquitane, the Loire & Paris) this summer and I’m already missing it.

Tony, Welcome back… always enjoy the newsletter. We will be in Montagnac from Sept until December and would like to stop by Montblanc and say hello. Look forward to seeing you…it’s been years. All the best, Elliot James

Still here, Tony! Good to hear from you again!

Hi. Glad to hear you are still around. Thought you may have succumbed to previous health probs. It’s been so long that we have moved to the Caribbean (been here a year) and let out our now finished Charente house! Now my issues are dealing with running of our tenanted house, in particular, dodgy (English) tenants who promise to pay the rent but then fall further and further behind. My advice: Don’t be a skinflint and use a letting agent.
Nice as it is here, I do miss my “French project”, esp. now it is finished after 6 years effort! Hope to see you one day. All the very best. Steve K

Hi Steve – thank you for writing, it is always difficult renting property “at a distance” – a good letting agent can be very valuable ) but not all are “good” unfortunately, a in all things.

Hope to see you one trip – I have a friend investng in Dominica and hope one day to get to see him

    Best wishes

    Tony
