I think you must be talking about the Hotel with the restaurant on the corner of the main square. Its a really friendly place that serves great food upstairs in the main restaurant. They do a fantastic pitzza in the bar. Weather depending the little seating area outside is nice. What makes this place is however the bar staff, they are REALLY REALLY nice.

Great tip for good french food. Thanks. When we want to take it up a notch, we go seeking stickers too. One of our signs of a sure thing is the snail logo for an establishment certified by Slow Food. The food is likely to be delivered by some convivial soul who enjoys seeing other people enjoy their local produce.

Yes - the truckers stops, usually on the old main roads between towns are often brilliant places to have the best food in France - look for the Relais Routier sign - I have wonderful memories of some of the best meals I have ever had - but look for the ones with a lot of trucks parked outside - most will serve you if you arrive by car, but sometimes you are kept in a spare corner and get a different menu - watching the truckers get a feast while you are served a tourist menu can be heartbreaking

Good idea, we always try to find a place full of French people for that reason, but hadn't thought of looking for the PMU sign. We often stop with the truckers - good food, reasonable cost!
