Spingtime - with Sarko - in Harmony
May 6, 2007
No big surprises - grumpy beat dopey in the election, although at the last minute they seemed to be identical, Mme S. toughened up and Mr S. went soft in the Television debate.
So, Sarko wanted the job which, like Blair, will get him no credit in five years time when the French people will blame him for all the problems they will inevitably find in 2012.
At least the Olympics in London will take the pressure off the next French presidential election, or perhaps the French Presidential election will take the pressure off the problems with the Olympics in London in 2012.
I find it hard to respect a man who made a point of running to tell Mr Bush that France made a mistake in not supporting the war in Iraq. Sarko, like Blair, seems to look for the quick result and the publicity “fix”, which, I suppose, we should expect a professional politician to do - so I guess he is the President we deserve.
Sarko has promised an equality of sexes in his team, this is good - he has positive, if flexible, policies (at least he has policies Siggy did not seem to have any and her team seemed to hate her) - business seems to welcome him, but if this follows the UK or USA model then the rich will get much richer and the rest will not be getting so rich as they though they should do.
Interesting times…

I think you have that down, pretty accurately, but he may just be smooth enough to bring most people with him. After all he was not exactly a total Thatcherite free marketeer in his previous political incarnations.
Anyway, always love the emails, the stories and your sense of undefeated charm !!!
all the best from Ireland !!

I agree with Toms comments but perhaps you have missed your vocation. Keep the outfit and go on the stage !
